On Friday 9th July 2021, a young Nigerian lady, Hon. Esther Ogbuefi, who is the Member representing the good people of Enugu West in the Nigerian Youth Parliament visited the visually impaired students at the Enugu State School of Special Education Oji-river.
The program which was held in honour and in complimenting the 6 years in office of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Igwuanyi (The Executive Governor of Enugu State) unwavering love, compassion and care for the physically challenged persons in the State.
The School Administrative Secretary in her opening remark expressed joy and gratitude to Hon. Esther ogbuefi and her entourage for the visit, she also thanked the Executive Governor of Enugu state for his unflinching support and care, she went further highlighting the numerous efforts and the good deeds of the Governor to the Students and management of the school.
Addressing the students, Hon. Esther Ogbuefi expressed her unprofounded joy and satisfactions having being received with an open arm and happiness from the school Administrative secretary, Head teachers, principals, the students and for accepting her gifts.
In her speech, she appreciated the Commissioner for Education Professor Uchenna Eze, administrative secretary, Principals, head teachers and all the students for the warm welcome. According to her, it's a sign that we are overly welcomed and we shall continue to visit.
She went further to say that she was led in the spirit to visit them and by God's grace through the esteemed Support of her friends, colleague and boss, Rt. Hon. Barr. Chima Obieze, the member representing Ezeagu Constituency at the Enugu State House of Assembly.
She also thanked His excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, whose large heart they have come to compliment, for his good works, not just this school and her students, but for Enugu State at large, she encouraged them to continue to pray and support his administration.
Speaking further, she made it very clear to the amazing and intelligent students that "disability is never inability" and that we were all created for a purpose, of which the grace to discover and excel lays barefaced to us through the supernatural being (God).
The honourable member also made a scholarship offer but was made to understand that the school doesn't operate on a scholarship basis.
Speaking during the program, Hon. Monday Diamond (SA to the Governor on culture and tourism), after a good line of praises and worship, words of encouragement, made a resounding promise of availing the students the opportunity for a tourist visit to the ultra modern Unity Park at Okpara Square Enugu.
Hon. Darlington Ugwuegbe (TA to the Governor on health matters), while speaking to the students encouraged and reintroduced their subconscious minds towards God and his undeniable love and agenda to all humanity. Hon. Isamade Adaeze Anita made a donation of 20,000 Naira to the School
During the closing remarks, the students thanked Hon. Esther and her team for remembering them and prayed that they shall be replenished in thousand fold. Speaking further, they solicited for more Support, in kinds and cash, noting lack of teaching and learning equipments like Recorder, mic, school band etc.
In addendum, the school management brought to the notice of Hon Esther and her team of their volunteer teacher whom gained admission into the University of Calabar, but could lose the admission due to lack of money to pay up the necessary fees.
The management, thereby on behalf of the school and Okechukwu Ajah (the teacher that got the admission) appeal to every good spirited individuals for a financial help or support to help grant him access to his educational dreams.
